He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Patterson and Francine Patterson; and his siblings, Francis Mathis, Sara Ferguson, Ed Clifford, Jr. and David.
He is survived by: his brother Earl; his wife Ellen Rae Chaney; his sons, David Patterson (Ruth) of Niceville, FL and Scott Patterson of Greer, SC; and his grandchildren, Mary Jane, Seth, Alex and Sidney. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, or the Exchange Club, Charlotte Hospice or Mooresville/Lake Norman Exchange Club.
