He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ritch DeYoung; his children, James DeYoung III (Elizabeth) and Erin Rowland (Brad); his grandson Jacob DeYoung; his sister-in-law Susan Clark (John); his close friends, Garren and Nancy Watkins; and his pet Margaret.
