He is survived by: his wife Judith Craven McHouell; his children, James "Jim" McHouell (Cindy), Thomas "Tom" McHouell (Kimberly) and Cathy Bindig (Rainer); and his grandchildren, Brian, Kara, Katie, Mason, Trevor and Dalton.
