He was predeceased by: his parents, Baxter Nelson and Lacy Honeycutt Nelson; his daughter Claudia Denine Nelson; his siblings, Mack, Jerry, Don, Betty and June; and his granddaughter Brandy Marchell Neill.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Stiers Nelson; his daughters, Angie Neill (Larry) and June Pharr (Randall); his sisters, Evelyn Oates and Billie Compton (Jack); and his grandchildren, Brandon Neill, Bridget Neill-Hardwick, Devin Pharr and Samantha Pharr. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
