He was predeceased by: his wife Bertie Jean Clontz Brotherton; and his siblings, Kenneth, Gilbert, Troy, Curtis, Peggy Brotherton and Vaughn Dean Riddle.
He is survived by: his sons, Neil Brotherton, Jr., Eddie Brotherton (Patty), Doug Brotherton (Sherrie) and Tim Brotherton (Caroline); his siblings, Vernon Brotherton and Opal Burgin; and his grandchildren, Mark, Gina, Michael, Katherine, Sam and Toby.
