He was predeceased by: his parents, James Walter Brown and Della Pethel Brown; his siblings, Lena Brown Beam, Carl Brown, Harry Brown and Cansell Brown; and his son-in-law Pressley Karriker.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Faye Spillman Brown; his children, Janice Brown Karriker of Mooresville and James "Jim" McKinley Brown (Robert Wade Rogers) of Asheville, NC; his grandchildren, Yvonne Smith, Leticia Bradshaw and Eben Karriker; and his great grandchildren, Daphne Bradshaw, Ben Karriker, Jackson Karriker, Sloan Karriker and Kenneth Randall II.
