He is survived by: his children, Tracy Leo (Anthony) of New York, George James Merkel, III of Waxhaw, NC and Jeff Merkel (MeLanie) of Troutman, NC; his sister Judy Scotko of New York; and his grandchildren, Deandra Leo, Nicolette Leo, Chaz Leo, Jake Merkel, Paige Merkel, Brett Merkel and Ben Merkel.
