He was predeceased by: his parents, Newton Nixon and Winnifred Piechocki (Henry); his brother Theodore Nixon; and his great grandchild Nolan Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Diane; his children, Dennis Nixon, Pamela Thomas (Steven) and Dawn Holthaus (Kenneth); his sister Jean Domin; his grandchildren, Kristopher Thomas (Steffani), Kyle Thomas (Alexandria) and Samantha Jo Nixon; and his great grandchildren, Parker Thomas, Emmett Thomas and Rowan Thomas.
