He was predeceased by: his father Wilbur Vail. He is survived by: his daughters, Melissa Howard (Tim) of Cleveland, NC and Kelly Vail Bolick of Statesville, NC; the mother of his children Nancy Vail; his sisters, Ann Tucker (David) of Brevard, NC, Joani Ramsey (Mark) of Charlotte, NC and Debbie Hansley (Eddie) of Conway, SC; his grandchildren, Tyler Howard (Willow), Caleb Howard (Karie), Deven Bolick and Alyssa Bolick; and his great grandchildren, Xavier Howard, Sylas Howard, Mason Howard and Lee Bolick.
