He was predeceased by: his parents, Grace Phillips of Monroe, NC and Joe Phillips; and his brother David Phillips of Matthews, NC.. He is survived by: his wife Kay Roddey Phillips; his children, Brent Phillips (Rebecca) and Amy Smith (Tyler); his grandchildren, Sawyer Smith, Tinsley Smith and Owen Phillips; and his siblings, Debbie Griffin and Darrell Phillips of Monroe, NC.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
