He was predeceased by: his grandfathers, James Paul Tellman and Jimmy Ray Slayton, Sr.; his uncle Kevin Tellman; and his mother-in-law Bridgette Womack. He is survived by: his parents, Jimmy Ray "Skip" Slayton, Jr. (Stacey) and Stacey Leigh Slayton; his wife Hope Smithyman Slayton; his sister Mackenzie Burkhalter (Eric); his nephew Cru Taylor Burkhalter; and his grandparents, Linda Slayton, Mary Jane and Joe Crum.
A celebration of life was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Cove Church (197 Langtree Rd, Mooresville, NC 28117). A reception was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location.
