He was predeceased by: his father William Basinger; his wife Elsie Basinger; his son Steve Basinger; and his siblings, William, Paul Basinger, Mary Ruth Sloop and Nettie Thompson.
He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Helena Basinger; his grandsons, Adam and Jacob Basinger; his stepgranddaughters, Jennifer Pullen and Rachel Naughton; and his nephew George William Basinger Jr. (Deborah Basinger).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building XZY Choir, 150 S. Church St., Mooresville, NC 28115.
