It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bennie Clifford Cowan (Mooresville, North Carolina), born in Monroe, Louisiana, who passed away on December 17, 2019, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherwood Cowan and Alma Cowan; his former wife Martha Cowan (Salsbury); and his sister Evelyn Taylor (Cowan). He is survived by: his wife Carol Cowan (O'Kelley Martin); his children, Leslie Plyler (Marty) of Troutman, NC, Stephanie Bailey (Ronny) of Key West, FL and Robert; his stepchildren, Canter Martin (Ann) of Asheville, NC, Mary Lynn Peacher (Bobby Glover) of Ridgeland, SC and Caroline Blanchette (Chris) of Davidson, NC.; his grandchildren, Victoria Axtman (Sam), Emma Plyler, Nanine, William, Eleanor, John Cowan, Grace, Madeline Martin, Nolan and Henry Blanchette; his nieces, Ruth Tallkington (Mark) and Martha Bennett (Chris); and his nephew Bill Taylor (Tess). He is also survived by three great-nephews and one great-niece.
