She was predeceased by: her parents, Thebes Bernard Karriker and Blanche Deal Karriker; her husband Paul Mitchell Smith; her son Duane Steven Smith; and her brother Thebes Bernard Karriker Jr..

She is survived by: her sons, Kim Alyn Smith (Kathy) of China Grove and Mark Anthony Smith (Patrice) of Mooresville; her siblings, Rev. Lonnie Karriker of Cornelius and Martha Karriker Baker of Davidson; and her grandchildren, Brent Smith (Jennifer), Jeremy Smith (Tonya), Joshua Smith (Tiffany), Charlotte Taunton (Jared) and Zach Smith.
