It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sylvester Oaks Jr. of Mooresboro, North Carolina, who passed away on June 25, 2020, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Sylvester Oaks and Maude Johnson Oaks; and his wife Rachel Hodge Oaks. He is survived by: his son Stephen "Steve" Oaks (Leigh Ann) of Newton; his siblings, Jack Oaks (Jeannie) of Asheville and Virginia Peters of Johnson City, TN; and his grandchildren, Nikki Oaks Vivion (Lance), Matthew Oaks (Alicia) and Laney Oaks.
