It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Lloyd Tate of Montreat, North Carolina, born in Tupelo, Mississippi, who passed away on October 19, 2020, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, William Ezra Tate and Jettye Beasley Tate; his brothers, William F. 'Bill Tate and Harold Tate; and his grandson Miles Gregory Johnson.

He is survived by: his spouse Leith Morgan Tate (Leith); his son William H. Tate (Galyna); his grandson Andrew of Durham, NC; his daughters, Katherine 'Bitzi Tate of Jackson, MS and Marisa Tate Stone (John) of Tucson, AZ; his granddaughters, Sarah, Katherine and Mary Simpson Stone; his daughter Frances Tate Johnson; his grandchild Jett Johnson of Starkville, MS; his nieces, Ellen Short of Tupelo and Becky Cade of Jackson, MS; his son-in-law Greg Johnson; his daughter Helen Tate Snyder (Luke); his grandchildren, Wren, Nell and Muir of Arnoldsville, GA; his daughter Emily Tate of Swannanoa, NC.; his grandson Allen Ullrich; and his brothers, Dawson and Reed.

Covid-19 safety guidelines will be followed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Black Mountain United Methodist Church, Montreat Conference Center, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
