He was predeceased by: his parents, James Atlas and Thelma Catherine Upchurch Tarlton; his wife Alice McAlister Tarlton; his daughter Tenara T. Smith; his granddaughter Nicole Smith; and his brother Atlas Tarlton.
He is survived by: his son Tim Tarlton (Sonya) of Monroe; his grandchildren, Braden Tarlton, Sierra Tarlton, Kimberly Killion and Joseph Miles; his great grandchildren, Ava, Ezra, Bella and Noel; and his siblings, Tom Tarlton (Bonnie) and Nancy Jo Brooks (Dwight) of Monroe.
The family suggests memorials be made to New Hope Baptist Church Youth Group, 5928 New Salem Rd., Marshville, NC 28103.
