He is survived by: his stepfather Johnny Flynn; his wife Nancy Bailey Helms; his children, Michael Thomas Helms of Charlotte and Susan Broome Baskins (Al) of Pineville; his grandchildren, Heather Blackwelder (Andrew), Maegan Griffin (Russell), Cassie Helms and Alyssa Helms; his daughter-in-law Dawn James Helms; his great grandchildren, Reagan Blackwelder, Natalie Blackwelder, David Blackwelder, Bo Blackwelder, Wyatt Griffin and Wade Griffin; and his sister Brenda Clark.
