She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Mary Braswell Austin and Wade Hampton Austin; her children, Thomas Edward, Harriet Sybil (Link) of Knightdale, NC, Mary Staci, James Graham and Barbara Hampton; her husband Ken; her siblings, Martha Wade Belk and Joe Austin; her children, Tommy Steele and Staci Hunt; her grandson Wes Page; her children-in-law, Susan Steele and David Ford (Joyce Gordon); her sisters, Becky Ball (Syd) of Oak Ridge and Ferry Lane Lowder (Richard) of Lexington, NC; her son Graham Steele of Monroe; her granddaughter Barbara Ford of Myrtle Beach, SC.; and her caregivers, Yvonne Cox, Tara Clark and Jami Blackwell.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Residence of Harry and Ellen Steele (1131 Jamestowne Dr, Monroe, NC 28110). A graveside service was held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Lakeland Memorial Park (1901 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112).
