She was predeceased by: her parents, Everette Benton and Earlie Stegall Benton; her husband Marion "Kemp" Helms; and her sisters, Rachel Crooke, Hazel Crump and Helen Williams.
She is survived by: her daughter Lisa Meier (Scott); her siblings, Eddie Benton, Linda Webb (Garry) and Elaine Brooks (Terry); and her grandchild Jeb Meier.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gordon Funeral Service (1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Philadelphia Baptist Church (5700 Philadelphia Church Rd, Marshville, NC 28103).
