She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse B. Harward and Ophelia Honeycutt Harward; her husbands, James Boyce Howell, Sr. and Joe Shumaker; and her siblings, James Bliss Harward and Mary Donese Harward Martin.
She is survived by: her sons, Jimmy Howell, Jr. (Donna), Jeff Howell (Karen) and Ken Howell; her grandchildren, Michael Howell (Roslyn), JB (James Howell III), Lindsey Sigmon and Matthew Hufham; and her great grandchildren, Aiden Sigmon, Jeffrey Sigmon, Gabriella Howell, Raylee Howell, Caylee Donaldson and Emma Howell.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the New Hope Baptist Church (5928 New Salem Rd, Marshville, NC 28103). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shelby's memory to New Hope Baptist Church building fund.
