He was predeceased by: his parents, Mark Hampton Thomas and Ida Howard Thomas; his wife Polly Hinson Thomas; and his siblings, Bryce Thomas, Hoyle Thomas, Earl Thomas, Jewel Starnes and Doris Aderholt.

He is survived by: his sons, Bobby Thomas (Michelle) of Monroe and Rick Thomas (Tammy) of Myrtle Beach; his grandchildren, April Thomas, Amanda Thomas, Jaimie Thomas and Sydney Carriker; and his great grandchild Emma Jean Carriker. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Benton Heights Presbyterian Church, 2701 Concord Hwy, Monroe, NC 28110.
