He was predeceased by: his parents, Ross Wilson Helms and Ovie Ghant Helms. He is survived by: his wife Shelby Helms; his children, Ross Helms, III of Waxhaw, Eric Lee Helms (Linda) of Monroe, Billy John Helms (Tracy) of Waxhaw and Roxane Smith (Charles) of Waxhaw; and his sister Rachel Thomas (Billy) of Waxhaw. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
