He is survived by: his wife Ruth Helms (Helms); his children, Deborah Johnson (Bob) and Robert O. Helms III (Brenda); his grandchildren, Brooke Justice (Johnny), Robert O. Helms IV and Hannah Helms; his great grandchildren, Savannah and Alaynah; his sister Brenda Wilhem (James Wilhelm Sr.); and his sisters-in-law, Alva Helms and Wanda Helms. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
