With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Douthwaite of Monroe, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 13, 2024 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Though his name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Richard leaves upon the hearts of his loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of his spirit and the richness of his legacy.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Douthwaite and Mildred Smith Douthwaite. He is survived by: his wife Jane Clanton Douthwaite; his children, Jill Douthwaite Butler (Logan) and Jena Douthwaite; his grandchildren, Hollie and Casey Butler; his brother David Douthwaite; and his aunt Helen Smith. He is also survived by three nephews.
