She was predeceased by: her husband Melvin Clay McWhorter; her parents, Aaron Paul Hayes and Sara Nell McCain Hayes; and her brother-in-law Jean. She is survived by: her daughters, Sherrie McWhorter (Diane Stevio), Lori Thomas (Randy) and Leslie Schlappich (Patrick); her sister Delores Hinson; her grandchildren, Brittany Lowery (Dustin), Greyson Cook and Logan Schlappich; and her sister-in-law Cathy Griffin (Steve).
Due to the current Covid-19 concerns, a private service will be held for the family at Gordon Funeral Chapel with entombment at Lakeland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Turning Point Services, PO Box 952 Monroe, NC 28111.
