He was predeceased by: his parents, R. W. Knight Sr. and Henrietta Montgomery; his son Doug Knight; and his brother R. W. Knight Jr. (Dub). He is survived by: his sister Eula Mae Starnes; his wife Stella Springs Knight; his son Greg Knight; his daughter-in-law Christy Knight; his granddaughter Ashlyn Knight; his sister Kathleen Hargett; and his sister-in-law Virginia Knight.
