It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melvin Clay McWhorter of Monroe, North Carolina, who passed away on December 14, 2020, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Edward and Grace Couick McWhorter; and his daughter Leah. He is survived by: his pet Diesel; his wife Nell Hayes McWhorter; his daughters, Sherrie McWhorter (Diane Stevio), Lori Thomas (Randy) and Leslie Schlappich (Patrick); his sister Cathy Griffin (Steve); his sister-in-law Delores Hinson; and his grandchildren, Brittany Lowery (Dustin), Greyson Cook and Logan Schlappich.
Due to the current Covid-19 concerns, a private service was held for the family at Gordon's Funeral Home with intombment at Lakeland Cemetery.
