He was predeceased by: his parents, Benson Kenneth Carpenter, Sr. and Zora Latham Carpenter; and his sons, Marty Carpenter and Brandon Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Judy Carpenter of Monroe; his sister Della Schlappich (Larry) of Monroe; his sisters-in-law, Wanda Henderson, Joan Hunnicutt, Phyllis Broome and Peggy Haney; his daughter-in-law Stephanie Carpenter; his brother-in-law Don Broome; and his granddaughters, Caylee Carpenter and Carsyn Price. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Hew Hope United Methodist Church, 3221 Plyler Mill Rd., Monroe, NC 28112.
