He is survived by: his wife Vera Broome; his son Marty Broome (Susan); his grandchildren, Cory, Steven (Melissa) and Meagan Broome; his great grandchildren, Tanner and Wylder Broome; and his sister Linda Long.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110 or to a charity of your choice.
