He was predeceased by: his parents, Viola Elliott and Claude Elliott; and his sister Christine Callis. He is survived by: his wife Jane Leach; his children, Pollyann Holthusen (Greg), Trish Moore (John), Mike Elliott (Minna), Mark Elliott (Dorsey) and Mary Jane Elliott (Kelly Mitter); and his sisters-in-law, Polly Webb and Linda Leach. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
