She was predeceased by : her parents, Zeb M. Chaney and Lela Helms Chaney; her husband James Morris Cox; her siblings, Hallie Chaney Smith Benton, Ollie Chaney Perry, Charles Chaney and Marvin Chaney; and her friend Leroy Morton.

She is survived by : her daughter Donna Reynolds (Dennis) of Monroe; her grandchildren, Ashley Reynolds (Jeremiah Ray) of Mint Hill and David Reynolds (Lorraine Keah) of Charlotte; her sister-in-law Joyce Greene of Monroe; and her friends, Carol, Joyce Greene, Harold Hildreth, Colleen Newbert, Richie Nash, Joey Cox, Donna Presson, Johnny Mangum and Byron Laney. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, June 27th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Gordon Funeral Service (1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112). A graveside service was held on Friday, June 28th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Walters Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
