He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Houston Cox, Sr. and Mollie Louise Davidson Cox; his son Brian Gene Cox; his sister Barbara C. Baucom; and his siblings-in-law, Rev. Elwin Melton and Judy Helms.
He is survived by: his wife Minnie Ellen Cox; his daughter Tammy Cox Helms; his granddaughters, Britt and Erika Helms; his siblings, Richard G. Cox (Sue) and Kathern "Kathy" Aldridge (Donnie); and his siblings-in-law, Ora Lee Melton, Herbert Melton, Nelda McDonald (Paul), Tommie Stegall (Walter) and Jackie Melton (Nancy). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
