He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Bill" Thompson and Betty Cope Fine; his son-in-law Neil Speer; and his brother-in-law Otis King. He is survived by: his girlfriend Carol Poplin; his stepdaughter Jody Speer; his siblings, Rondall Thompson (Micki Weaver), Alma King and Shirley Thompson; and his grandson Caleb Speer.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, December 28th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Davie Baptist Church (1489 Fork Bixby Rd, Advance, NC 27006).
