He was predeceased by: his father Wesley Reece. He is survived by: his wife Linda Barnes Potts; his children, Wesley Potts and Shelby Potts of Kannapolis; his sisters, Janell P. Yount (David) of Mocksville and Linda Potts of Winston-Salem; his aunt Marie Powell; and his cousin Audrey Myers. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
