He was predeceased by: his parents, Hasten Wade and Mary Eva Garrett Carter; his former wife Jo Ann Allen Carter; and his sisters, Josephine McClamrock and Grace Elam.
He is survived by: his wife Katherine Plott Carter; his children, Allen Carter (Diane) of Mocksville and Vicki Carter Bettinger of Glen Allen, Virginia; his stepchildren, Benjy McClamrock and Kristy Snipes; his grandchildren, Scott Carter (Lauren), Erin Davidson (Matt), Brent Bettinger (Juanita) and Ryan Bettinger; his great grandchildren, Josie Davidson, Payton, Eva Carter and Beau Davidson; his sister Margaret Ann Carter Bryant (Don); and his sisters-in-law, Elaine Allen Kent and Barbara Clontz (JC). He is also survived by nieces and nephews; and lots of other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered for Center Methodist Church, 1857 US Hwy 64 West, Mocksville, NC 27028.
