He was predeceased by: his parents, James Emmitt and Margaret McClamrock Cassidy. He is survived by: his siblings, Ann Cassidy Peele, Harold (Helen) and Dwight (Rita); his wife Betty Graves Cassidy; his sons, Todd Cassidy (Beth) of Mocksville and Thad Cassidy (Tonya) of Statesville; and his grandchildren, Sam Cassidy of Boone, Katherine Whitaker (Jeremy) of Mt. Holly, Reece (Ryan Cassidy) and Bill Bowles. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
