He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Roy "Buck" and Essie Mae Wall Whitaker; his wife Donna Mae Nichols; and his siblings, Pauline Wall, Margie Whitaker, Oscar Gaither Whitaker, Gary Lee Whitaker, Kenneth Whitaker and Doris Colleen Whitaker McDaniel.
He is survived by: his daughter Annette Whitaker Steele; his son-in-law Rick Steele; his grandchildren, Benjamin Steele (Sheryl) and Leslie Taylor (James); his great grandchildren, Tyler Steele, Hunter Steele, Marshall Taylor and Ashlyn Taylor; his sisters, Shelby Mullis and Caroleen Speaks; his close friend Carlton "Preacher" Booe; his pet Tinkerbell; and his close friend Patches. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
