He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Slate and Jensina Hansen Slate; his wife Daphne Ham Slate; his son Bruce Slate; his brother Bill Slate; and his stepmother Freida Slate.
He is survived by: his children, Jillian Gatewood (Stokes) of Sunset Beach, NC, Moira Slate of Clemmons, NC and Ken Slate (Barb) of Milton, GA; and his cousins, Richard Slate (Cathy) of Hickory, NC and Stevie Dozier Slate (Brad) of Matthews, NC.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville (416 Valley Rd, Mocksville, NC 27028). A celebration of life was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
