He was predeceased by: his father John H. Messick; and his nephew Jamie Culbertson. He is survived by: his mother Rachel Hager Messick; his wife Margaret W. Messick; his daughters, Deborah Reid (Kenny Rogers) and Tamela Trivett (Brad); his siblings, Tommy Messick and Brenda Messick Culbertson; his brother-in-law James Culbertson; his grandchildren, Joseph L. Reid, Kay-Leigh Reid, Joseph M. Reid, Thomas G. Reid of Brittany Reid, P. J, Kaylan Reid, Devin Trivett, Zachery Trivett, Skylar Trivett and Hailey Trivett; and his extended family Dawn Goff (Kaida).
Visitation was held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home (494 E Plaza Dr, Mooresville, NC 28115). A funeral service was held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Cavin-Cook Chapel (494 E Plaza Dr, Mooresville, NC 28115).
