He was predeceased by: his father Henry Martin; his wife Nannie Lou "Peggy" Potts Sparks; his daughter Debra Sparks Crotts; and his siblings, Gilbert, T. J., Bill, Dick, Helen, Dot, Betty Jo and Emily.
He is survived by: his son-in-law Richard Crotts; his grandchildren, Mark Crotts (Meggan Suggs), Beth Westmoreland (Jody), Brandi Akinade (Sam) and Wesley Potts (Heather); and his great grandchildren, Mason Westmoreland, Logan Westmoreland, Ethan Akinade, Ruby Westmoreland and Isabell Akinade. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered for Brenner Children's Hospital, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Medical Center Boulevard, Winston-Salem, NC 27157.
