He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert McCoy and Ruth McCoy; and his sisters, Ellen Dismuke, Winona Hendrix and Mary Chavous.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth; his children, John McCoy (Barbara) and Susan Stinson (Scott); his granddaughters, Laura and Bonnie Stinson; his brother James McCoy (Jean); and his brother-in-law Mack Chavous. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
