He was predeceased by: his brothers, Marvin Haywood (ME), Jimmy Pate Haywood and Billy Haywood. He is survived by: his son Garland Haywood Jr.; his daughter-in-law Tania; his grandchild Rayne; his sister Edith Ann (Bill Lineberger); his sister-in-law Elenor Haywood; and his former wife Caroline Haywood.
