He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Edmond and Lula Mae McClain Newell; and his brothers, Dallas Newell, Bruce Newell and Max Newell.
He is survived by: his wife Jan Taylor Newell; his children, Eric Newell (Nichole) of Rock Hill, SC, Mike Newell (Tammi) of Rock Hill, SC, Danielle Taylor (Tom Hasker) of Carlisle, PA and Jason Newell (Angela) of Pageland, SC; his grandchildren, Taylor, Kaylee, Pearse, Emma, Kassie, Will, Miranda, Ariel, Serenity and Tommy; and his sister Linda Polk (Richard) of Weddington, NC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
