He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnie Lawson and Willie Williams of Columbus, NC; his stepfather Billie Moore; and his brother Charles Clark Moore of Greenville, TX.. He is survived by: his wife Geneva Brittain Lawson; his son Matthew Lawson; his stepchildren, Jay Madison and Melissa Trantham; and his sisters, Gail Moore Dyer of Columbus, NC and Carol Kay Hughes of Neenah, WI.
