He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. Mikkonen Sr and Ruth G. Talcott; and his brother William E. Mikkonen, Jr.. He is survived by: his daughters, Mandie Sifers (Cody) of Mills River, NC and Miranda Mikkonen of Asheville, NC; his granddaughter Kyndall Sifers; his close friend Debbie Kivela; and his pets, Cricket and Angie.
