He was predeceased by: his mother Gertrude Geis Nichols. He is survived by: his father Bernard "Bernie" Nichols (Mary) of Winston Salem; his children, Ethan Nichols of Maryland and Emily Nichols of Maryland; his siblings, Raymond Nichols of North Wilkesboro, Mark Brown (Lisa) of Lenoir, Christy Grabus (Tim) of Virginia and Angie Mitchell (Jason Bunn) of Statesville; his uncle Gary; and his aunt Patty Nichols of Millers Creek. He is also survived by one niece; and three nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Piney Ridge Baptist Church in Thomas' name, to 256 E. Greencrest Drive, Millers Creek, NC 28651.
