He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Lincoln Mitchell and Ethel Catherine Inscore Mitchell; and his brother Earl Gwyn Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Audrey Shepherd Mitchell; his son C. L. Mitchell of Millers Creek; his siblings, Zell Crowder (Alvin) of Greensboro, Jean Robinson of Hays and Jerry Mitchell (Carol) of Hays; and his sister-in-law Linda Shore of Wilkesboro. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
