He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Buchanan and Ruth Geouge Buchanan; his siblings, Barbara Honeycutt, Madge Allred and Bob Buchanan; and his wife Hellen Lawson Buchanan.
He is survived by: his sons, John Buchanan (Amanda) of Asheville and Michael Buchanan of Burnsville; his siblings, Ronnie Buchanan of Virginia and Nina Coble of Davidson, NC; his grandchildren, Kayla, Kevin, Thomas, Michael, Hannah and Derek; and his great grandchild Charlotte.
