He was predeceased by: his parents, Merton Wingate Britt and Sadie Harrell Britt; and his brother Kenneth W. Britt. He is survived by: his former wife Judith Norvelle Britt; his wife Judy; his children, William C. Britt of Jacksonville, Michael W. Britt (Sue) of Climax, NC and Janet Britt Siplon (Page) of Cumming, GA; and his grandchildren, Patrick Britt, Ashley Britt, Jordan Britt, Kristin Wolfe (Ryan), Thomas Siplon and Lillian Siplon.

He was a past member of the Bertie County Board of Elections, a member of Davie Masonic Lodge AF and AM #39 in Ahoskie where he was past Master for several years and also Charity Masonic Lodge #5 in Windsor where he served at secretary.
